Job summary

Kitco Metals Inc. is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager in Montreal to lead a team of engineers in designing, building, and maintaining high-quality software systems. This hands-on leader mentors engineers, drives best practices, and delivers scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.

The role also supports IT Operations to ensure stable systems and rapid issue resolution, while collaborating with PMO, Application Delivery, and AI initiatives to advance broader IT mandates.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Software Development Manager with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong background in software development and system design.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering, development and QA teams.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, and scalable systems.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum or similar development methodologies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers/developers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of software projects, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely execution.
• Collaborate with product, business, and technical stakeholders to define roadmaps and technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across applications and services.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and critical technical decisions.
• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes.
• Leads QA practice to ensure best in class QA/testing methodologies are adhered to
• Manage team capacity, priorities, and resource planning.
• Promote the use of modern development tools, automation, and AI-assisted engineering practices to improve productivity.
• Generate cost savings as part of delivery practices.
• Work with broader team (PMO, Application delivery, AI) on delivering broader IT mandates.
