Job summary

University of Ottawa seeks several Tutor (CUPE) candidates to support undergraduate chemistry laboratories on the Main Campus for the Winter 2027 term. The role includes assisting with the delivery of in-person lab components for CHM courses, developing educational materials, and supervising students under the guidance of faculty.

Qualifications

• Must have CHM 3126 or equivalent, third-year physical chemistry or equivalent.
• Experience developing experiments for undergraduate laboratory courses.
• May be required to fill in teaching assistant absences in CHM courses as needed.
• Completion of WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety workshops (OH&S).
• Non-chemistry graduate students may be required to write a qualifying test if not previously completed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise undergraduate students in the teaching laboratory.
• Conduct literature reviews and assist in experiment development and design.
• Prepare laboratory documents and ensure COVID safety and cleanliness protocols are followed.
