British Columbia Team Handball Federation (BCTHF) is seeking a Youth Handball Instructor for New Westminster. The role leads weekly sessions for youths aged 10–14, focusing on safe, inclusive play and foundational handball skills. The position runs Tuesdays 8:15 PM–9:30 PM as part of a Sept 2026–Mar 2027 program.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging weekly handball sessions for youth ages 10-14.
• Teach fundamental handball skills: passing, catching, shooting, dribbling, footwork.
• Introduce basic attacking and defensive concepts.
• Create fun drills, activities, and small-sided games.
• Encourage teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, and fair play.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.
• Adapt activities for different ages and skill levels.
• Set up and organize equipment before/after sessions.
• Communicate professionally with parents/guardians.
• Track attendance and report incidents to the program coordinator.
• Support BC Handball initiatives to grow youth handball in New Westminster and BC.

About the Program

The British Columbia Team Handball Federation (BCTHF) is expanding youth handball opportunities across British Columbia and is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Youth Handball Instructor to lead our youth program in New Westminster.

The program introduces children ages 10-14 to handball in a fun, safe, inclusive, and positive environment. Participants may have little or no previous handball experience, so the instructor should be comfortable working with beginners and helping young athletes develop fundamental skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging weekly handball sessions for youth ages 10-14.

Qualifications & ExperienceRequired

• Experience working with children or youth in a sports, recreation, education, or community setting.

Preferred

• Handball playing or coaching experience.
• NCCP or other recognized coaching certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Experience working with beginner athletes.
• Experience coaching other team sports.

Handball experience is an asset, but candidates with experience in other team sports and a strong interest in learning handball are encouraged to apply.
