Thales Canada is seeking a Systems Engineering Sub-Discipline Manager in Halifax, NS for a hybrid role. You will provide system engineering leadership across bids, projects, and products, mentor the team, and drive process improvements while aligning with governance and standards.

The role requires managing workloads, developing team skills, and overseeing recruitment, performance, and succession planning. Travel and security clearances are part of the position.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or 3-year technical program in a technical field.
• Minimum 2 years in last 10 years managing a SysEng team.
• Minimum 2 years in last 10 years responsible for SysEng functions.
• Minimum 1 year in last 10 years as a Systems Engineering Manager for a Capital or In-Service Support contract.
• Expertise in at least one SysEng tool.
• Expertise in at least one SysEng standard and in Requirements Management.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a people or resource manager.
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing a budget.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate resources to deliver bids, projects and products.
• Plans the team’s workload in the short, medium and long term.
• Develops team skills to support bids, projects and products.
• Supports recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career management and succession planning for the team.
• Coaches, mentors and develops the team.
• Leads the team to meet company expectations for productivity, chargeability, quality, continuous improvement and objectives.
• Ensures that company policies and procedures are followed, including timesheets, time off, and travel.
• Involves establishment, standardization and evolution of processes, procedures and tooling for the discipline.
• Develops lessons learned and shares knowledge across the discipline.
• Fosters continuous improvement based on root cause analysis, problem solving and new practice deployment.
• For bid, project and product estimates for the discipline and sub-disciplines.
• Responsible for performing SysEng work on bids, projects and products.
• Adopts holistic analysis of a system and interrelations.
• Understands system capabilities through functional/logical/value analytics.
• Emphasizes requirements definition through performance analysis, trade studies, constraint evaluation and cost/benefit analysis.
• Adopts Model Based Systems Engineering as basis for architecture.
• Notions of IVVQ and RAMT and related norms and standards.
