McInnes Cooper is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estates & Trusts Clerk to join our Estates & Trusts team in our Halifax office for a full-time, permanent position. Our new team member will provide high-quality support within our team, working to ensure all clients receive the highest level of service.

As an Estates & Trusts Clerk, you will be responsible for:

  • Document preparation duties including preparing letters, reporting packages, transcribing documents, copying, scanning, and retrieving documents from the vault;
  • Updating the database for storage and removal of original documents;
  • Attending signing meetings with lawyers and clients;
  • Monitoring the team's shared inbox, responding to requests, updating the ongoing estate planning list, and maintaining the database;
  • Sharing ideas, learning from others, and sharing your skills and knowledge; and
  • Challenging yourself and your team every day, all while having fun!

The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Paralegal, Legal, Business Administration diploma, or related education;
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, preferably within estates and trusts;
  • Exceptional technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and a keen interest in new technology;
  • Ability to excel in a demanding, fast-paced team environment, being highly detail-oriented and adaptable to changing priorities;
  • Exceptional communication skills with a focus on client service and professionalism; and
  • A positive attitude and enjoyment of working in a collaborative team environment.
