Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Urban area. Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio. Spa. Tasks: Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences. Shampoo customers' hair. Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages. Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair. Apply hair extensions. Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair. Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features and preferences. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Hairstylist Trade Certification. Hairstylist Licence. Hair styling techniques: Blow drying. Iron waving/curling. Hair colouring techniques: Bleach.
