Minimum Requirements

• College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year

Work Setting

• Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio

Tasks

• Advise clients on beauty care treatments
• Analyze hair and scalp condition
• Book appointments
• Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences
• Provide custom hair and scalp treatment
• Shampoo customers' hair
• Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening, and tinting, and also provide scalp conditioning massages
• Apply bleach, tints, dyes, or rinses to colour, frost, or streak hair
• Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair
• Suggest hair styles compatible with client's physical features and preferences
