Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to support at-risk females and transgender youth in a nurturing six-bed facility. This role involves facilitating programs, providing supervision, and developing healing plans tailored to the needs of young women aged 13-17. The ideal candidate will possess a Child & Youth Care Diploma and have experience in residential care, demonstrating strong communication skills and an understanding of Indigenous values. Job description

POSTING # 24-10-11

POSITION TYPE: WEEKENDS (Sat - Sun, 8pm - 8am)

Background: The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and supporting at-risk females and transgender youth aged 13-17 years. The site is a six-bed facility that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering various assessments and support services. All six beds are anticipated to run at a high occupancy rate within short-term and long-term residency. The facility will provide a safe and nurturing environment where young women can experience a strong sense of caring, support, and encouragement while building capacity to achieve their dreams.

Qualifications:

  • Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
  • Experiential applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Residential Care experience would be an asset.
  • Supporting Caseload and Healing Plans implemented with the young women.
  • Provide support/supervision to the residents.
  • Program development and facilitation skills.
  • The incumbent must be aware of the impact and effects of sexual exploitation/abuse on the lives of the young women and be able to establish relationships with residents built on trust and genuine caring.
  • Must work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of Child Welfare Legislation and Standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Indigenous values and community issues.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and access to a vehicle would be an asset.
