Job summary

Cascades Recovery+ (CR+) in Burnaby, BC is seeking a proactive H&S Coordinator to drive safety excellence across CR+ BC locations. You will support managers, maintain policies, and lead inspections, audits, and risk assessments to reduce incidents.

You will partner with HR to ensure timely H&S training for staff and managers, and champion a people-first safety culture across facilities. This is a full-time, on-site role with strong benefits and growth potential.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in OH&S, Environmental Health, HR or related field.
  • 5+ years in health & safety in manufacturing/industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • CRSP or CHSC designation or working toward.
  • JHSC Certification (Parts 1 & 2).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, reporting, tracking).
  • Experience with SAP, Power BI, or safety tracking tools (Conformit).
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Support managers in maintaining and communicating safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including incident reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain and improve health & safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Act as a key contact for safety inspections and audits; assist preparation and follow-up.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analyses across sites.
  • Track and report safety KPIs and trends; drive proactive risk reduction.
  • Assist plant management with investigation and analysis of OHS events.
  • Coordinate H&S training programs with local HR and ensure schedule adherence.
  • Foster a people-first, safety-first culture through visible engagement.

Your Role

As theH&S Coordinator, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential. Your scope includes:

  • Support managers/supervisors in maintaining, managing and ensuring that company prevention initiatives are communicated and understood.
  • Ensure Compliance with all regulatory requirements including incident reporting and recordkeeping
  • Maintain and continuously improvehealth & safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • Act as akey point of contact for safety inspections and audits, supporting preparation and follow-up.
  • Conductrisk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analysisacross areas of responsibility.
  • Track, analyze and report on safety KPI’s, safety trends, and best practices to identify opportunities anddrive proactive risk reduction strategies
  • Support plant management teamwith investigation and analysis of OHS events ensuring consistency in risk analysis, root cause identification and appropriate corrective actions
  • Work with local HR to ensure H&S training program for employees and managers is completed on schedule, while adhering to Cascades’ H&S requirements.
  • Champion apeople-first, safety-first culturethrough visible floor presence and engagement.
What you bring

You're a natural fit forthe H&S Coordinator roleif you have:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, HR or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in aHealth & Safety role within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Strong working knowledge ofWorkSafeBC safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC), or working toward designation (strong asset)
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification (Parts 1 & 2)
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proficiency withMicrosoft 365 (Excel, reporting, tracking)
  • Experience with systems such asSAP, Power BI, or safety tracking tools (e.g., Conformit)is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel between sites
