Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Migration Lead with deep Microsoft 365 expertise and GWS expertise to spearhead the technical execution and data migration aspects of this complex, large-scale project. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless and efficient transition with minimal disruption. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert in enterprise-level migrations, particularly from Microsoft environments to Google Workspace, with a proven track record of successfully leading technical migration teams. You will be responsible for the end-to-end technical planning, execution, and oversight of data migration, system integration, and troubleshooting throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Technical Migration Strategy & Execution: Lead the technical planning, execution, and successful completion of all data migration activities from Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint Online, OneDrive) to Google Workspace for 42,000 employees.

M365 Environment Expertise: Leverage deep understanding of the existing Outlook/O365 environment, including mailboxes, calendar usage, shared resources, public folders, distribution lists, archive solutions, and associated applications/integrations (CRM systems, plugins, macros) to inform migration strategies.

Migration Tooling: Select, configure, test, and optimize appropriate migration tools, demonstrating expertise with Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Outlook (GWMMO), Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GWME), and other third-party migration solutions for larger scale or complexities.

Data Integrity & Performance: Ensure data integrity and optimize migration performance throughout all phases, including planning for data transfer methods and bandwidth requirements.

Pilot and Phased Rollout Management: Lead the technical execution of migrations for the "expert community" and "high-risk groups (EABP)" during the pilot phase, and manage and execute mass migration waves for the broader workforce.

Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve any technical issues, data corruption, or connectivity problems arising during migration. Refine migration scripts and processes based on real-time feedback and encountered challenges.

Infrastructure & System Integration: Collaborate with the Solution Architect to ensure proper integration with identity management systems (e.g., Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) with Active Directory) and existing security infrastructure (e.g., SSO via SAML). Assist with the configuration of network and firewall rules for optimal migration performance.

Technical Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of migration progress, technical issues, and resolutions. Provide regular technical updates to the project manager and relevant stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of migration specialists, providing technical guidance and support. Work closely with the Project Manager, Solution Architect, and Change Management Lead to ensure a coordinated and seamless migration experience.

Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to defined security settings (e.g., 2-Step Verification, DLP, spam filters) and compliance rules for Gmail and Google Calendar during migration.

Qualifications

6+ years of progressive experience in technical migration roles, with a strong focus on large-scale enterprise IT transformations.

Demonstrated hands‑on expertise in deploying and migrating organizations from Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint Online, OneDrive) to Google Workspace (Gmail, G‑Cal, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).

Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, architecture, and data structures.

In‑depth technical knowledge of Google Workspace administration, security features, and migration tools (GWMMO, GWME, GCDS).

Strong understanding of network infrastructure, security policies, and identity management systems (e.g., Active Directory, SAML‑based SSO) relevant to enterprise migrations.

Proven ability to manage complex technical issues and drive their resolution efficiently.

Experience leading and motivating technical migration teams.

Excellent problem‑solving skills and a meticulous approach to data integrity.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to various audiences.
