Job summary

Astra-North Infoteck Inc. is seeking a Guidewire Lead to drive testing efforts for Guidewire-based solutions. The role combines hands-on testing with leadership in planning, design, and execution, supportingquality in cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong Guidewire testing experience, capability to design tests, manage defects, and collaborate across stakeholders. The position follows a hybrid model with two in-office days per week in Canada, Region of Waterloo, Kitchener.

Qualifications

• Experience with Guidewire testing domains and modules.
• Ability to design and document test plans, cases and scripts.
• Proficient in defect tracking and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders and teams.
• Participation in agile ceremonies and release readiness.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices is a plus.
• Familiar with SQL for validation and data checks.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional, regression and integration testing for Guidewire.
• Develop and maintain test plans, cases and automation scripts.
• Collaborate with developers, BA and product owners to clarify requirements.
• Log, track and verify defects; ensure clear communication to teams.
• Execute regression, integration and user acceptance tests for new features.
• Present testing results and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Coordinate demos with business stakeholders when needed.
• Contribute to testing metrics and improve testing processes.

Primary Skills:

• Guidewire Functional Testing Expertise in PC/BC and CC: Demonstrated experience in functional, regression, and integration testing processes.
• Test Design and Documentation: Ability to develop test plans, cases, and scripts and document them in detail.
• Defect Tracking: Proficiency in defect management and test tracking using tools such as JIRA or similar.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities for dissecting requirements and identifying edge cases.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for coordinating with technical and non-technical stakeholders and documenting issues clearly.
• Actively participates in requirements elaboration sessions, sprint planning, release readiness reviews and other inspections.
• Design, develop, and execute functional test plans and detailed test cases based on product and business requirements.
• Document, log, and track defects using management tools, ensuring issues are communicated clearly to relevant teams.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and resolve issues uncovered by testing activities.
• Conduct regression, integration, and user acceptance testing to verify new features and confirm that updates do not negatively impact existing functionality.
• Prepare high-quality test documentation and present testing results and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders for Demo and elevate issues as needed
• Knowledge of Agile methodology tool required to track Testing efforts (example JIRA)
• Test Automation Knowledge: Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Tosca) and experience in automating functional test scenarios.
• SQL/Database Skills: Basic skills in SQL for backend validation and database testing.
• Domain Knowledge: Understanding of insurance domains to enhance testing effectiveness for business-critical applications.
• Agile/DevOps Practices: Exposure to Agile development life cycle, Scrum practices, or CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Relevant Certifications: Industry certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) to validate testing knowledge and skills.
