Job summary

ACCIONA Energía seeks a Guideway Assistant Superintendent to oversee on-site construction of the elevated guideway in Ontario. You will support the Superintendent, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure timely delivery to safety and quality standards.

The role requires 3–5 years in similar infrastructure roles, a Civil/Structural or Construction Management background, and strong MS Office skills. Competitive CAD 90k–120k CAD yearly, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as an assistant superintendent or related role on large infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management; relevant experience may offset requirements.
• Knowledge of bridge/structural construction, specs, codes and standards.
• Experience with subway/light rail projects, including delivery and handover of elevated guideway assets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem‑solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site construction activities for the elevated guideway in collaboration with the Superintendent.
• Maintain project progress in line with the project schedule.
• Coordinate scheduling and procurement with supply chains and subcontractors.
• Direct and supervise subcontracted crews for guideway foundations, substructure, and superstructure.
• Ensure work complies with relevant standards, specifications, and codes.
• Assist in erection and lifting planning, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Keep accurate records: daily reports, inspections, and safety documentation.
• Conduct site safety inspections and align with Health and Safety policies.

Job Description

The Guideway Assistant Superintendent will assist in overseeing the construction of aguideway. This role involves ensuring that all guideway construction projects arecompleted on time, and to safety and quality standards.

• Support the Superintendent in overseeing on-site construction activities for theelevated guideway.
• Assist in maintaining project progress in accordance with the project schedule.
• Collaborate in the scheduling and coordination of supply chains and sub-contractors.
• Assist in directing and supervising sub-contracted crews for guideway foundations,substructure, and superstructure.
• Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with relevant standards,specifications, and codes.
• Support the Superintendent in overseeing the erection of concrete and steelstructures, including scheduling, coordinating with other construction segments, andplanning on-site deliveries.
• Assist in managing procedures related to erection and lifting, ensuring all operationsare conducted safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of project activities, including daily reports, inspectionreports, and safety documentation
• Complete regular site safety inspections and align with the project Health and Safetymanagement policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, promoting a positive team environment anda culture of collaboration.

Work Conditions

• Must possess a valid Ontario Driving license G or G2.
• Able to perform in a fast-paced environment, under different weather andenvironmental conditions.
• May require working extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to meetproject deadlines.
• Must hold all relevant safety and supervisor training certifications.

Required Skills and Competencies

• 3 - 5 years of experience as an assistant superintendent or related role withexperience in large infrastructure project preferred.
• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or ConstructionManagement. Relevant experience may offset educational requirements.
• Knowledge of bridge/structural construction including specifications, codes andstandards.
• Experience with subway/light rail projects, including delivery, and handover ofelevated guideway/ bridge assets.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
• Preferred experience with infrastructure construction within a complex urban area.

This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $90,000–$120,000 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
