Being a guidance counselor means helping students understand themselves and their paths to assist them in making informed and coherent educational and professional choices.
On a daily basis, you will assess the psychological functioning, personal resources, and environmental factors of young and adult students. You will accompany and support them in developing coping strategies and in their decision‑making, promoting their autonomy and their ability to build a life project aligned with their individual characteristics and their environment throughout their educational journey.
The guidance counselor in adult general education will be part of an experienced team focused on the success and perseverance of students by supporting them in their educational paths and professional choices.
The individual will be responsible for helping, advising, accompanying, and assessing the psychological functioning, personal resources, and environmental conditions of adult students. They will intervene to develop and maintain active coping strategies.
The individual will work at the Champlain adult education center and will work with clients in socio-professional integration training (ISP), distance learning (FAD), francization, and pathways to obtaining a high school diploma (DES). At the Champlain adult education center, courses are aimed at individuals aged 16 and older and are tailored to each person's situation and specific needs to facilitate diploma attainment. Courses are offered during the day or evening and can be full-time or part-time.
The assignment location may be reviewed based on needs.
The individual may be required to work Monday evenings during registration.
