Requisite Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals with the skills and abilities to join Marianne’s Place team. If you are self directed with the ability to work effectively within a team environment, are compassionate, reliable, adaptable, resourceful, and work well under pressure, please consider this opportunity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of shelter food services; including food purchasing, preparation and serving
  • Cleaning and maintaining of all food related spaces including kitchen, storage and dining area
  • Working within a shared kitchen in a shelter environment
  • Maintaining health standards in kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Engagement with shelter clients on food related matters.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 year Culinary Arts diploma or equivalent education & training
  • Minimum 2 years experience in food preparation in a restaurant, institution or similar setting
  • Experience with aspects of food industry, including food safety, preparation and storage
  • Knowledge of nutrition, healthy menu planning and alternative diet accommodation
  • Ability to prepare a variety of meals, including those reflecting cultural and restrictive diets
  • Ability to clean dining, food preparation and food storage areas
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High ethical standards and integrity consistent with agency values
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Current Food Handlers, Standard First Aid, CPR and vulnerable sector check
