Job description

Canada Building Materials (CBM) Ready-Mix, a division of St Marys Cement and proud subsidiary of VCNA, delivers top-quality ready-mix concrete for diverse construction projects. The Plant Supervisor will provide operational support for CBM, guiding the safe and efficient use of labour and equipment. This position works in congruence with operations management to meet the needs and targets of the various plants.

Responsibilities:
  1. Supervising unionized and non-unionized hourly workforces and maintaining a high level of employee morale at the plants.
  2. Supporting the labour relations process through maintaining the applicable collective bargaining agreements and employee handbooks as well as managing grievances.
  3. Managing and coordinating production, storage and general distribution in accordance with policies and procedures as established by the Operations Manager.
  4. Managing customer and internal relationships (sales, QC etc.).
  5. Planning, organizing and batching concrete loads/deliveries.
  6. Implementing, training, administering and complying with environmental, health & safety and quality system policies and procedures.
  7. Performing concrete testing as per CSA & ASTM standards.
  8. Completing paperwork and reporting as needed.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. At least two years post-secondary education (college or university).
  2. Previous ready-mix or similar industry experience is an asset. Excellent people management, problem solving, decision-making and communication skills.
  3. Fundamental knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel).
  4. Ability to travel frequently, including occasional overnights.
  5. G Class license and clear 3-year abstract is required.
