TLDR: We’re hiring a Growth Operations Lead to build and scale the technical backbone of Contra’s growth engine. You’ll own the infrastructure, automation, and execution across our GTM motion spanning independents, clients, and partners.

This is a rare opportunity to join a lean, fast-moving team at a pivotal moment in Contra’s growth. You’ll work cross-functionally to set up, run, and optimize programs that drive acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue, while managing and evolving our core growth stack.

Who we are and what we do

Contra is a multi-sided marketplace reinventing the future of work. We empower independents to build standout professional brands, get verified for their skills, and connect directly with top companies—without the friction of outdated hiring systems or commission fees.

For companies, Contra offers a flexible, all-in-one platform to discover, hire, and manage world-class independent talent. From onboarding to payments to collaboration, we make it seamless to work with freelancers across every stage of the project lifecycle.

We've raised over $44M from leading investors like NEA, Unusual Ventures, and Cowboy Ventures—and we're just getting started.

Why join Contra's journey?

We’re building the commission-free creative network. Think LinkedIn for creatives. We're laying the infrastructure for how the next generation works and earns.

At Contra, we believe the best work happens outside the constraints of traditional employment. With a network of 1M+ independents and 50K+ brands, we’re creating a new kind of professional network—one built on trust, transparency, and freedom.

As work becomes more project-based and global, we’re helping top talent find meaningful opportunities, and helping companies scale with agility. If you’re excited about rethinking how people connect, collaborate, and thrive in the modern economy—this is the place to do it.

About you

  • You’ve worked in a fast-paced startup environment, ideally Series A or B.
  • You’re fluent in growth infrastructure: automation, workflows, data hygiene, CRM, attribution.
  • You’ve supported or run full-funnel campaigns—lifecycle, outbound, ABM, reactivation.
  • You think like a product person: systems-first, iterative, and focused on outcomes.
  • You’re not just technical. You’re curious, proactive, and driven by impact.
  • You prioritize high-leverage work and measure success through data, always grounding decisions in quantifiable outcomes.
  • You’re comfortable managing external vendors, freelancers, and cross-functional collaborators.

What you’ll own

  • Optimize and scale the foundation of our growth infrastructure across tools like HubSpot, Instantly, Clay, CIO, and Intercom.
  • Set up and optimize multi-step workflows across the funnel (e.g. nurture, onboarding, outbound, reactivation).
  • Collaborate on growth experiments across our 3-sided marketplace: identify opportunities, launch initiatives, and analyze results.
  • Ensure CRM data integrity and lead hygiene, and improve how data flows between systems.
  • Own campaign setup and automation logic (e.g. ABM outreach, lifecycle drips, newsletter segmentation).
  • Partner with marketing, product, and partnerships to connect campaigns with the right audience at the right time.
  • Manage external vendors/freelancers and ensure projects are shipped on time.

What success looks like in this role

  • Our lead, contact, and account data is clean, enriched, and flowing seamlessly across systems.
  • New growth experiments launch fast with minimal friction, and impact can be measured for effective prioritization and iteration.
  • Our programs build trust, deliver value, and guide people across all sides of the marketplace toward meaningful action.
  • Cross-functional campaigns run smoothly, reach the right audiences, and contribute meaningfully to growth.
  • We have visibility into what’s working and what needs to be optimized—across the funnel.
  • You’ve become a force multiplier for the growth team: trusted, fast, and strategic.
  • Located in Toronto

Total Comp:

  • Salary: $80-90k CAD + stock options
  • Monthly transit/gym reimbursement
  • We will provide you with a company laptop on your start date
