Job summary

LutherCare Communities is seeking a Community Service Worker to join our Group Home team in Saskatchewan. You will be responsible for the personal care and safety of residents and for implementing individual lifestyle plans.

The role encompasses resident care, programming and home maintenance. Employment type is casual, with shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. A Food Safe Certificate is required and English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education with experience working with adults with cognitive and physical disabilities in a residential setting.
• A Disability Support Worker (Rehabilitation Worker) course, Special Care Aide course or equivalent education is preferred.
• Food Safe Certificate is required; sign language is desirable; Basic Skills Training as provided by LutherCare Communities is required.

Responsibilities

• Resident Care – assist with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
• Resident Programming – facilitate daily living activities and community participation.
• Home Maintenance – perform housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation.

The Position:

In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, we are seeking a Community Service Worker to join our Group Home team. Applicants will be responsible for the personal care and safety of clients and for the implementation of individual lifestyle plans.

Duties and Responsibilities of Group Home Workers include three main areas:

• Resident Care – Includes assistance of personal hygiene (bathing, toileting, dressing, eating etc.)
• Resident Programming – Includes the facilitation of resident daily living activities and participation in the community.
• Home Maintenance – Includes housekeeping, laundry and the preparation of meals and snacks

Employment Type: Casual

Wage: This position starts at $17.4939 per hour.

The Applicants:

Applicants would typically qualify for this position through the completion of a grade 12 education with previous experience working with adults with cognitive and physical disabilities in a residential setting. A Disability Support Worker (Rehabilitation Worker) course, Special Care Aide course or equivalent education is preferred. Food Safe Certificate is required, sign language is desirable. The incumbent must complete Basic Skills Training as provided by LCC. Applicants must be available to work shifts that include days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Applicants must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to interpret, read, write and speak English fluently.

• TLR (Transfer, Lifting & Repositioning) is considered an asset
• PART (Professional Assault Response Training) is considered an asset
• First Aid and CPR is considered an asset
• Personal Support Worker course is considered an asset
• Food Safe Certificate is required
