Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based in Peterborough. This is a fantastic role for an ACA / ACCA qualified Accountant to play a key role within our team, producing statutory consolidated accounts, preparing audit schedules, and ensure timely and budget-friendly audits. You'll also support financial system development, manage balance sheet accuracy, and liaise with external advisors.

The Group Financial Accountant will join a fast-paced and busy finance team, based in Peterborough, on a hybrid basis. Working within our multi service office alongside the IT and HR teams, we foster a sociable environment with a variety of different activities for individuals to get involved in, including summer socials and volunteering activities.

  • Produce statutory consolidated LLP and subsidiary company accounts in compliance with latest UK GAAP, IFRS and UK legislation
  • Prepare schedules for audit in line with the requirements of the external auditors
  • Be the key link between the firm and the external auditors during the audit to ensure the firm has done everything it can to ensure the audit is completed on time and within budget
  • Provide support for the development of the financial systems
  • Co-ordinate and report on the quarterly WIP valuation process and implement ongoing improvements to the process to improve the accuracy of the results
  • Be responsible for the accuracy of the Balance sheet, including monthly reconciliations, assets under construction, VAT and reporting
  • Liaise closely with and develop a strong rapport with our external tax and accounting advisors

What will it take to be successful ?

We are seeking someone who is ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience, with excellent up-to-date knowledge of Accounting and Auditing standards. You will have prior experience in preparing statutory accounts and running audits for medium sized companies, ideally including LLP. Working knowledge of corporation tax computations for medium sized companies and VAT

It is crucial to have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, be enthusiastic and pro-active with strong numerical and written analytical skills. Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, a team worker with strong problem-solving ability. Fully computer literate with a thorough understanding of MS Office programmes including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
