Kasohkwew Child Wellness Society (KCWS) invites applications for a Group Care Support Worker to empower Indigenous youth in Samson Cree Nation. You will support personal, emotional, educational, and cultural development while promoting independence and well-being in a group home setting.

You will advocate for children with behavioural challenges, demonstrate compassion and accountability, and collaborate with families and staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 is required; preference for a diploma or degree in Social Work or Human Services.
  • Experience in related work or human services is preferred.
  • Must have a vehicle and class 5 Driver’s License with $2,000,000 liability insurance.
  • Willing to use personal vehicle as part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Empower Indigenous youth in Samson Cree Nation to achieve personal, emotional, spiritual, mental, physical and educational goals.
  • Advocate for youth with behavioural challenges and promote independent living skills.
  • Provide culturally sensitive guidance and support within a group home setting.

Job description

The Group Care Support Worker’s role is to empower and assist young individuals in achieving their personal, emotional, spiritual, mental, physical, and educational goals while promoting their cultural identity and overall well-being.

The Group Care Support Worker provides a passionate and enthusiastic approach to assisting children with behavioural challenges as their advocate and providing encouragement to develop and maintain independent living skills.

Candidates will display compassion, accountability, respect, inclusivity, courage, and innovation towards their work ethic. Candidates will provide culturally sensitive support and guidance to Indigenous youth residing in a group home setting. Candidates will implement flexibility and professionalism to work with individuals with complex needs. Candidates are required to work shift work, including weekends and some statutory holidays

KCWS provides onboarding and extensive ongoing training for advancement within group care

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Grade 12 is required, with preference given to those with a diploma or degree in Social

Work or Human Services and relevant experience.
