POSITION OVERVIEW

We are hiring a Group Benefits Underwriting Consultant for our Mississauga location. If you are positive, results-driven, and excel at providing technical support, we invite you to join our team. Proven expertise in Group Benefits plans is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Understand the complexities of group benefits products.
2. Manage all aspects of group benefits renewals, including analysis and negotiation.
3. Handle marketing tasks such as preparing specifications, responding to queries, and comparing quotes.
4. Review financial reconciliations provided by insurers, where applicable.
5. Write detailed reports for renewals, marketing, and financial reconciliation, including analysis and recommendations.
6. Calculate projected renewal ratings and provide rationale for clients’ budgeting.
7. Review client experience data as outlined by the Consultant.
8. Prepare pricing for plan changes and illustrate financial impacts.
9. Conduct plan benchmarking and recommend improvements and risk areas.
10. Prepare and deliver presentations for clients and prospects.
11. Attend client meetings as a technical resource.
12. Communicate trends to management.
13. Build strong relationships with insurers.
14. Perform other duties as assigned, including backup support for reporting teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. At least 7 years of experience in a technical role or underwriting within a Group Benefits consulting environment.
2. Strong understanding of underwriting and funding arrangements.
3. Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
4. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently.
5. University or College degree.
6. Interest in obtaining the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
