Our private client has a large personal estate just outside the Calgary city limits which requires a motivated and eager team player to maintain and upkeep the grounds year-round. This Groundskeeper/Horticulturistwillwork on this beautiful property with a small team of other groundskeepers.

The grounds crew who manage the property are a collaborative and hard working group. They are seeking a like-minded individual wanting stability and longevity in their groundskeeping career.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

  • Execute pest/weed management while abiding by holistic measures (no pesticides/herbicides)
  • Oversee all greenhouse and perennial operations (planting, maintenance, budgeting, etc.) while keeping a running inventory of all tools and equipment
  • Facilitate landscaping projects, and assist in lawn maintenance, snow removal and irrigation system service
  • Provide support to the groundskeeping team as needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable vehicle to get to and from the property
  • Clean criminal background
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds (pre-employment fitness test to be completed)
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed
  • Must be adaptable, flexible, and function effectively in a team environment

Experience:

  • Groundskeeping/landscaping experience is required
  • Horticulture/agriculture experience is an asset
  • Design experience is an asset
  • Able to operate a bobcat, tractor, truck trailer, mower, and other small equipment

Skills:

  • Team player with exceptional work ethic and a go-getter personality
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and discretion
  • Punctual with outstanding time management skills
  • Able to multitask and prioritize daily workload
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to function effectively autonomously as well as in a team environment
  • Willing attitude, not afraid to take on additional tasks as needed
  • Highly flexible, can work overtime as required

Base Salary:$50,000 – 65,000 per year

  • Salary based on experience
  • Pension plan

Work Hours:

  • 40+ hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime to be expected in peak seasons (1-5 hours of OT per week)
  • Occasional weekend and holiday shifts will be required

Remote Work:

  • This position is not remote and required to be on-site.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
