Groundside Student

Reports to: Foreperson Groundside Maintenance

Term Position: May 5, 2025 – August 29, 2025

Closing Date: April 29, 2025

The Opportunity

Winnipeg Airports Authority has an opportunity for a Groundside Maintenance Student within our Groundside Maintenance Department. The department works includes maintenance and repair of all groundside land under the supervision of the Groundside Foreman.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assist in the maintenance and repair of all groundside land, including but not limited to weeding, pruning, trimming trees and plants, and cutting grass using a tractor mower.
  2. Remove litter and garbage to maintain cleanliness of Groundside Campus.
  3. Assist in painting lines on various Groundside paths.
  4. Other related duties as required.

Selection Criteria include:

  1. Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
  2. Effective communication skills.
  3. Ability to work in a team environment.
  4. Must be able to multitask and prioritize workload.
  5. Valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
  6. Must have excellent customer service skills.
  7. Previous landscape maintenance experience considered an asset.
  8. Preference will be given to students enrolled in an environmental design or landscape architecture focused program.

Condition of employment is the ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card.
