Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited, is hiring a Groundsperson in Burlington, Ontario to support tree care operations and assist climbers and trimmers on site.

You will perform groundwork, operate a chainsaw and chipper with safety as a priority, and help set up jobs, remove debris, and maintain equipment while learning towards arborist certification. The role offers growth training and an employee-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license.
• Endorsements to drive a 5-ton vehicle are an asset.
• Willingness to become a certified arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Landscape/horticulture experience is an asset.

Position Overview

As a Groundsperson you will be working to support the operations above; you will play an important part in both site set up and assistance to both climbers and trimmers. This role will provide newcomers to the tree industry with a better understanding of what we do at Davey and provide the right individuals with a career advancement opportunities and training.

• Chainsaw and Chipper operation/loading brush.
• Assist Crew leader in job- site setup, debris removal, cleanup and equipment maintenance.
• Abide by industry safety policies and procedures.
• Raking up/ leaf blowing job sites.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and air brake endorsement is considered an asset.
• Willingness to work towards becoming a certified arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Previous landscape/horticulture experience considered an asset.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.

Additional Information

• Full time. Year-round employment.
• $18-$22/hour. Wage will be determined based on education, experience, and relevant qualifications or certifications.
