Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking a Groundsperson in Colborne, Ontario. You will support trimming operations, assist climbers and provide site setup and cleanup support along with equipment maintenance.

The role offers year-round employment and on-site work with ongoing training and advancement opportunities. Ideal candidates will have a valid provincial driver's license, be willing to pursue arborist certification, and demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 lbs while working

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid provincial driver's license.
• Willingness to pursue arborist certification.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Previous landscape/horticulture experience is an asset.
• Able to work safely as part of a team and learn.

Responsibilities

• Support groundwork for trimming operations.
• Operate chainsaw and chipper; load brush.
• Assist crew leader with job-site setup, debris removal and equipment maintenance.
• Follow industry safety policies.
• Assist with site cleanup and raking/leaves.

Position Overview

As a Groundsperson you will be working to support the operations above; you will play an important part in both site set up and assistance to both climbers and trimmers. This role will provide newcomers to the tree industry with a better understanding of what we do at Davey and provide the right individuals with a career advancement opportunities and training.

Job Duties

• Groundwork support for trimming operations.
• Chainsaw and Chipper operation/loading brush.
• Assist Crew leader in job- site setup, debris removal, cleanup and equipment maintenance.
• Abide by industry safety policies and procedures.
• Raking up/ leaf blowing job sites.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and air brake endorsement is considered an asset.
• Willingness to work towards becoming a certified arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Previous landscape/horticulture experience considered an asset.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.

Additional Information

• Full time. Year-round employment.
• $18-$22/hour. Wage will be determined based on education, experience, and relevant qualifications or certifications.
