Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is recruiting for a Grocery Associate in Calgary, AB. This role focuses on implementing merchandising programs, managing displays, reducing out-of-stocks, and delivering world-class customer service across departments including Frozen, Dairy and Bakery.

The position requires physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, strong communication, and the flexibility to work night shifts and varied hours. Previous retail experience is valued at all education levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of retail experience for those without post-secondary education.
• If you have some post-secondary education, combine education and retail experience to total at least 3 years, with at least 6 months retail experience.
• College graduates should have a Bachelor's degree plus at least 6 months of retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class customer service to shoppers.
• Write Grocery orders and manage displays.
• Load/unload merchandise for sales floor distribution and rotate stock.
• Handle price changes and set up displays.
• Oversee Frozen Food, Dairy and Bakery sections including ordering.

This position helps to implement Division Grocery Merchandising programs. Assists in managing displays, ordering and minimizing out-of-stocks within the department; the overall presentation of the department, while providing excellence in world-class customer service.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:

• Provide world-class customer service
• Write Grocery order
• Load and unload merchandise for sales floor distribution
• Price changes as required
• Set up displays
• Frozen Food, Dairy and Bakery Section – load, unload, store, rotate and order
• Schedule flow of merchandise – arrange stock room, damaged merchandise, spoils, salvage.
• Retrieve carts
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Store Manager

Educational and experience:

• For high school graduates (or equivalent) with no post-secondary education, a minimum of 3 years retail experience*.
• For candidates with some post-secondary education, a combination of post-secondary education and retail experience* must be at least 3 years. A minimum of 6 months retail experience*.
• For college graduates, Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 months of retail experience*.
