Job summary

South Country Co-op is seeking a proactive Grocery Manager for the Medicine Hat Food Store. You will lead the Grocery Department, drive revenue and productivity, and ensure guest satisfaction while aligning with company plans.

Reporting to the Food Store Manager, you will guide the team, manage budgets, and implement merchandising and operational improvements. The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and adherence to safety and brand standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• 3–6 years of related retail or grocery store experience.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays to meet customer needs.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license.
• Willing to obtain PMEO (Power Mobile Equipment Operation) certification.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Tech savvy with ability to adapt to new technology.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee the Grocery Department operations and provide strategic direction.
• Lead the Grocery team, manage performance and staff development.
• Maintain display standards, stock levels, promotions and merchandising.
• Monitor budgets, inventory turnover and profitability.
• Collaborate with store leadership to execute strategic initiatives.
• Champion exceptional guest experience and address concerns promptly.
