Job summary

Thrifty Foods Central Saanich is seeking a full-time evening grocery clerk to deliver friendly, efficient service and maintain store standards. You will help customers, stock shelves and assist with back-room tasks.

Responsibilities include processing orders, promoting featured products, practicing food safety, training junior staff, and ensuring a clean, organized sales floor. The role requires the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced grocery environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, SOPs, Health and Safety, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives.
• Order, receive, and merchandise stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures, as required.
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs.
• Increase store sales by actively promoting featured products.
• Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, keeping work area clean and presentable as per Company requirements.
• Prep Customer orders, as required.
• Process department shrink, as required.
• Participate in the training of junior staff.
• Other duties as required.

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, responsible, accurate and timely fashion. The Clerk will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.
