Overview

The Wascana Country Club, founded in 1911 is the only private golf club in Regina and for over 100 years has ensured optimal playing conditions and aesthetics for its diverse membership. The greenskeeper role is essential in providing our membership with an enjoyable and professional playing experience while preserving the overall quality and beauty of the golf course and maintaining its reputation as one of the premier private clubs in Western Canada. These duties involve but are not limited to :

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Ground Maintenance:

  • Mowing fairways, greens, and rough areas using specialized equipment.
  • Trimming and edging around trees, bunkers, and other course features.
  • Aerating and fertilizing the turf to promote healthy grass growth.
  • Raking and maintaining sand bunkers.

Irrigation System Maintenance:

  • Watering specific areas manually during dry conditions.

Course Setup:

  • Changing hole placements and tee markers.
  • Setting up and maintaining hazard markers, signage, and flags.

Plant and Landscape Care:

  • Planting, pruning, and maintaining trees, shrubs, and flower beds.
  • Removing debris, fallen branches, and leaves.

Equipment Use and Maintenance:

  • Operating machinery such as mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles safely.
  • Cleaning of equipment.

General Maintenance:

  • Filling divots and repairing damaged turf.
  • Assisting with pest and weed control measures.
  • Maintaining pathways and cart routes.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhering to health and safety standards while using equipment and handling chemicals.
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Additional Duties:

  • Assisting with seasonal tasks such as snow removal or winterizing the course.
  • Supporting special events or tournaments by preparing the course as needed.
  • Reporting course damage or unusual conditions to supervisors.

  • Physical fitness and stamina for outdoor, physically demanding work.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the course remains well-maintained.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance.
