As a Graphic Designer, you will report to the Manager and will be responsible for the design and development of visual concepts and the production of graphic art and visual materials to effectively communicate Ontario Health atHome information for publications, presentation material, displays, posters, signs, advertising and interactive media such as web sites (Intranet and Internet), social media and other digital documents.
What will you do?
- The design and development of visual concepts and the production of graphic art and visual materials.
- Efficiently manage and coordinate design production from concept through completion (including print production).
- Provide web support as needed.
- In consultation with the Manager, help to establish the overall look, graphic elements and content of communications materials in order to meet the organization’s needs.
- Determine the medium best suited to produce the desired visual effect and the most appropriate vehicle for communication.
- Prepare sketches, layouts and graphic elements of the subjects to be rendered using acceptable tools, multimedia software and image processing, layout and design software.
- Develop and maintain an image and illustration bank for the Communications department.
- Use public image banks and typography guides or create original illustrations and photography to produce images that meet organizational communications needs.
- Assist in the update and maintenance of Ontario Health atHome Visual Identity and Style Guide.
- Coordinate all aspects of production for print, audio-visual or electronic materials, including the organization’s web sites, social media sites and digital media documents.
- Design and develop the look and layout of information to be placed on websites as needed.
- Coordinate timelines for receiving content and information for the timely production of print and web-based material.
- Design monthly internal and external newsletters and Annual Report to the Community.
- Proofread for accuracy of transcription, grammar, spelling, sentence structure and content.
- Coordinate delivery of electronic documents to outside printing agencies.
- Familiarity with the pre-print production process.
- Provide Facilities staff with pre-print production specs and print-ready materials.
- Perform other graphic design and layout duties as assigned.
- Support all staff with all design-related requests, troubleshoot and resolve inquiries.
- Produce documents in French and other languages as required.
- Work with the French language and other translators when required.

What must you have?
- 3 year College diploma in graphic design.
- Over 5 years practical work experience in graphic design and layout.
- Creative ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work.
- Advanced competency in Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign a must.
- Competency in Microsoft Office.
- Photography experience an asset.
- Knowledge of SharePoint; 2010 and 2013.
- Dynamic team player with well-developed written and verbal communication abilities.
- Exceptional collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Accustomed to performing in a deadline-driven environment with an emphasis on working within budget.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use own initiative and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to cope with conflicting demands and to prioritize tasks.
- Maintain good communications with internal and external contacts, to ensure projects and/or related problems are resolved appropriately and requests completed in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain good interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to supporting resolution of issues and training.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a large number of individuals representing a cross-section of portfolios within the organization as well as technical support staff from Ontario Health.

- Knowledge of services provided by Ontario Health atHome.
- Ability to speak French or another second language.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, subject to change as per the Collective Agreement (35 hours per week; 70 hours per bi-weekly pay period).
Position Location and Travel:
A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.
