Scope of the Position
The Graphic Designer will play a key role in shaping Nch’ḵay̓’s visual identity across all print and digital assets. This role is responsible for developing impactful design solutions that communicate our mission, engage the Squamish People, and entice new audiences. Working closely with the Brand, Marketing & Community Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will create compelling visuals that support our brand story across digital, print, and experiential platforms. They will also collaborate with departments across the organization, ensuring every project honours the vision of the Squamish Nation.
Responsibilities
Design Execution
- Craft visually compelling graphics across digital and print mediums — from digital ads and social media content to annual reports, out-of-home ads, and event signage.
- Develop branded presentation templates, reports, and slide decks to support communication both inside and outside the organization.
- Support internal departments with infographics, event signage, and custom visuals to bring company initiatives to life.
- Create marketing and leasing materials for new residential real estate projects, including floor plans, site signage, brochures, and digital toolkits that reflect each project's values and aspirations.
- Apply Nch’ḵay̓ brand style guides with accuracy and consistency across all materials.
Web & Digital Design
- Use UX/UI principles to build intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital assets such as landing pages, email templates, social assets, and digital signage.
- Support updates and enhancements to Nch’ḵay̓’s websites with optimized digital designs.
Motion & Video Content
- Bring Nch’ḵay̓’s brand to life through motion graphics, animations, and videos that enhance marketing campaigns and real estate projects.
- Collaborate on storyboarding, editing, and final production of video content for various platforms.
- Support event coverage and video storytelling with short-form reels or highlight edits.
Collaboration & Strategy
- Collaborate with internal and community stakeholders to present design concepts, gather feedback, and refine visuals aligned with strategic marketing objectives.
- Maintain and evolve Nch’ḵay̓’s brand guidelines, ensuring assets reinforce our visual identity and community commitment.
- Act as a creative partner across teams to visually represent ideas, proposals, and reports respecting Squamish values and teachings.
- Partner with external creative agencies on large marketing initiatives, such as rebranding and lease-up campaigns.
Project Management
- Manage multiple projects effectively, overseeing timelines and deliverables to meet goals.
- Transform complex ideas into compelling visual narratives that communicate purpose clearly.
- Ensure assets are delivered on time, aligned with brand standards, and optimized for channels, always considering community impact.
- Organize and maintain the digital asset catalog following proper file naming and storage protocols.
Reporting Responsibilities
- Report to the Marketing Manager (or EVP, Brand, Marketing & Community Engagement if the Manager role is vacant).
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital design, visual communication, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in graphic or visual communication design.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality visuals across digital and print platforms.
- Experience designing for websites, social media, signage, presentations, and marketing collateral.
- Experience with motion graphics or video editing is an asset.
- Knowledge of UX/UI and responsive web design principles.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and tools like WordPress or Webflow is an asset.
- Ability to translate business goals into engaging visual concepts.
- Attention to layout, typography, and consistency.
- Effective communicator, receptive to feedback, and collaborative.
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Interest in community-focused work and supporting Indigenous-led development.
- Experience working with First Nations is an asset; a respectful understanding of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values is essential.
- Portfolio or recent design work link required.
Special Requirements
- Occasional evening and weekend work.
- Potential travel may be required.
Salary Range
67,000 - $76,000 - $85,000
Our typical range is ±5% of the midpoint, depending on qualifications and market conditions.
