About

Scope of the Position

The Graphic Designer will play a key role in shaping Nch’ḵay̓’s visual identity across all print and digital assets. This role is responsible for developing impactful design solutions that communicate our mission, engage the Squamish People, and entice new audiences. Working closely with the Brand, Marketing & Community Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will create compelling visuals that support our brand story across digital, print, and experiential platforms. They will also collaborate with departments across the organization, ensuring every project honours the vision of the Squamish Nation.

Responsibilities

Design Execution

  • Craft visually compelling graphics across digital and print mediums — from digital ads and social media content to annual reports, out-of-home ads to event signage.
  • Develop branded presentation templates, reports, and slide decks to support communication both inside the organization and outside of it.
  • Support internal departments with infographics, event signage, and custom visuals to bring company initiatives to life.
  • Create marketing and leasing materials to support lease-up strategies for new residential real estate projects, including floor plans, site signage, brochures, and digital toolkits that reflect the values and aspirations of each project.
  • Apply Nch’ḵay̓ brand style guides with accuracy and consistency across all materials.

Web & Digital Design

  • Use UX/UI principles to build intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital assets including landing pages, email templates, social assets, and digital signage.
  • Support updates and enhancements to Nch’ḵay̓’s corporate and project websites with optimized digital designs.

Motion & Video Content

  • Bring Nch’ḵay̓’s brand to life through motion graphics, animations, and video content that enhance the marketing campaigns and real estate projects.
  • Collaborate on storyboarding, editing, and final production of video content for use across platforms.
  • Support event coverage and video storytelling with short-form reels or highlight edits.

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Collaborate with internal and community stakeholders to present design concepts, gather feedback, and refine visuals to align with strategic marketing objectives.
  • Maintain and evolve Nch’ḵay̓’s brand guidelines, ensuring every asset reinforces our visual identity and commitment to community.
  • Act as a creative partner to teams across the organization to visually represent ideas, proposals, and reports in ways that are grounded in respect and relevance to the Squamish People.
  • Work in partnership with external creative agencies on large scale marketing initiatives such as re-brands and building lease-ups.

Project Management

  • Balance multiple projects effectively, managing timelines and creative deliverables to meet business goals.
  • Transform complex ideas into visually compelling narratives that communicate our purpose clearly and effectively.
  • Ensure assets are delivered on time, on brand, and optimized for their intended channels, always keeping our community top of mind.
  • Organize and manage the internal digital asset catalog, following proper file naming and storage guidelines.

Reporting Responsibilities And Authorities From Supervisor

  • Marketing Manager (EVP, Brand, Marketing & Community Engagement, if the Manager role is vacant).

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital design, visual communication, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in graphic design, visual communication, or a related creative field
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates the ability to create high-quality visuals across digital and print platforms
  • Comfortable designing for websites, social media, signage, presentations, and marketing collateral
  • Experience with motion graphics or video editing is an asset
  • Familiar with UX/UI and responsive web design principles
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and tools like WordPress or Webflow is an asset
  • Ability to translate business goals into clear, engaging visual concepts
  • Strong attention to layout, typography, and consistency
  • Clear communicator who can take feedback and collaborate across teams
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Interest in community-focused work and supporting Indigenous-led development
  • Previous experience working with First Nations is an asset; a strong desire to learn about and uphold Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) values and teachings in a respectful manner is essential for this role.
  • Portfolio or link to recent design work required

Special Requirements

  • Occasional requirement to work in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Expected Salary Range

$67,000 - $76,000 - $85,000

Our typical hiring range will be +/- 5% of the midpoint shown above.
