The Graphic Trend Forecaster has a unique ability to advocate for a unified and trend right look and feel across the brand. They will use their research techniques and fashion industry knowledge to guide the merchandising teams in terms of colours, forms, shapes and patterns to provide a diverse offering of fast fashion products.

What you need to be a successful Men’s Apparel Designer/Trend Forecaster:

  1. Research/Trend Forecasting: Keep abreast of industry trends using subscription-based services, social media, attending trade shows and other fashion resources. Present all research findings to the merchandising team in a weekly trend report highlighting key, hot and emerging items. Create inspiration story boards and colour pallets for each season.
  2. Apparel Design: Use expertise in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop to create all over prints, repeating patterns and apparel graphic designs. Design and create compelling labelling and packaging for our products.
  3. Effective Communication: You will communicate clearly and effectively; you are confident speaking in person, on the phone and through email; your style is welcoming, concise and consistent. Proven ability to convey information, whether oral or written, in a successful, easy to understand manner particularly with presentations in weekly Merchandising meetings.
  4. Time Management: You will balance your tasks with timeliness and efficiency, while demonstrating the ability to work with attention to detail and speed and urgency in a high productivity environment. Able to initiate and maintain various reports including follow up on scheduling, deliveries, and priority products.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma in Fashion Design
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and working on MAC and PC is a MUST
  • Excellent fashion sense and passion for apparel and accessory design
  • Experience with a wide variety of embellishments and printing methods
  • Thorough knowledge of textiles and apparel construction
  • Experience trend forecasting for a junior target market is an asset
  • Organized and able to work under pressure with speed and urgency
  • Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to take initiative, be creative and imaginative to think outside the box
