Job description

TAC Security is a global cybersecurity company helping organizations strengthen their digital security through innovative cybersecurity solutions and services. As we continue to expand our operations in Canada, we are looking for an experienced Grants Specialist to lead government funding initiatives, manage grant programs, SR&ED activities, and research and innovation programs.

Role Overview

The Grants Specialist will be responsible for identifying, managing, and securing government grants and funding opportunities that support TAC Security’s business, research, technology, and innovation objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with Canadian government programs, funding agencies, and SR&ED requirements, along with excellent proposal writing, project management, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and identify relevant federal, provincial, and government funding opportunities aligned with TAC Security’s business and R&D objectives.
  • Manage the complete grant lifecycle, including opportunity identification, application preparation, submission, follow-up, approval, reporting, and closeout.
  • Prepare high-quality grant applications, proposals, budgets, business cases, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage SR&ED activities, including project documentation, technical narratives, eligible expenditure tracking, and supporting evidence.
  • Work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, product, finance, and research teams to gather and organize information required for grant applications and SR&ED claims.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with government agencies, funding organizations, program officers, research institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor grant requirements, milestones, deadlines, deliverables, and reporting obligations to ensure compliance.
  • Track funding utilization, project expenditures, and financial requirements associated with government programs.
  • Monitor changes in government funding programs, eligibility criteria, tax incentives, and relevant regulations.
  • Develop funding strategies to support TAC Security’s research, innovation, technology development, and business expansion initiatives.
  • Prepare regular updates, reports, presentations, and funding summaries for senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with government programs, universities, research organizations, and industry partners.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in grants management, government funding, SR&ED, research funding, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian federal and provincial government grants and funding programs.
  • Practical experience managing SR&ED claims and related documentation.
  • Experience working with government agencies, funding organizations, or government program officers.
  • Excellent proposal writing, research, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, financial documentation, and funding requirements.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple applications, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical, finance, research, and leadership teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the technology, cybersecurity, software, artificial intelligence, cloud, or R&D sector.
  • Experience with Canadian programs such as SR&ED, NRC IRAP, Mitacs, and other innovation or technology funding programs.
  • Existing experience or relationships with Canadian government funding organizations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian R&D tax incentives and innovation funding programs.
