The Corporate Special Projects team supports a variety of initiatives at Reconnect, including Projects, Communications, Development, Events, Privacy, and Quality Compliance. The team works collaboratively to support each other, the organization, and ultimately to provide the best possible service for Reconnect’s clients.

About Us :

Reconnect Community Health Services is a not-for-profit health service organization in the west end of Toronto. Our services include supports for seniors, caregivers, and people living with mental health and addictions concerns. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of client-centred care in our sector.

As part of this team, the Communications and Project Advisor will be responsible primarily for writing a variety of materials for the organization, including grant proposals, as well as supporting various internal and external projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director.

Grant Writing and Funder Reporting

  • Being the primary writer for Reconnect’s promotional materials, grant proposals and reports to funders.
  • Manage the creative development of all print and digital collateral to support fundraising and brand-building initiatives, facilitate all approvals and manage the production and distribution process.
  • In collaboration with program managers and staff, track project deliverables to support the drafting of funder reports.

Project Coordination and Communications Support

  • In collaboration with other teams and departments, develop strategies and materials to support Reconnect initiatives.
  • Create effective monitoring and analysis capabilities so that the results of promotional tools and initiatives can be accurately measured.
  • Support the production of video and digital content for events, websites, and promotional materials.
  • Supports key meetings through drafting of meeting materials (presentations, slides, briefing notes, etc.)
  • Supports projects generally, including coordination, scheduling, documentation and other factors necessary for success.
  • Ensures all required resources, including information, are readily available to support project-related decision making.
  • Works with Project Managers to conduct project briefing and debriefing sessions to identify areas for improvement, and makes recommendations based on findings;
  • Works directly with project stakeholders via email, phone conversations and face to face meetings;
  • Schedules, co-ordinates and participates in sector events and working group meetings (may take minutes);
  • Provide administrative support as required;
  • Ensures a positive team dynamic to ensure project progress;
  • Key Skills

    Technical and Behavioral Competencies Required :

  • Post-secondary education related to public relations, communications, journalism, and any fields related to editing and writing
  • Project coordination or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional and senior management.
  • Extremely well-organized and motivated with the proven ability to multi-task.
  • Delivers all services in a professional manner and according to established guidelines and associated benchmarks;
  • Familiarity and experience with content management systems (e.g. WordPress, SharePoint), analytics software (e.g. Google analytics), graphic design programs (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Canva) and editing software is a strong asset. Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher) is essential.
  • Familiar with teleconferencing platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Able to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Follows all health and safety guidelines established by Reconnect’s Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of gender, race, sexual orientation and multicultural issues.
  • NOTE : Reconnect requires a criminal background check for all employees, volunteers and students.

    Workplace Requirements :

  • Works a 37.5 hour workweek, Monday through Friday and as needed after hours and on weekends.
  • Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the project and the agency.
