Job description

The Company

Blurb.fm is a programmatic content creation company working with some of the largest music companies to scale day to day creative work that help artists get heard. We specialize in turning music assets into ready to go video and visual content, helping rightsholders monetize and reach audiences across digital platforms.

The Team

We are a dedicated team of self driven individuals that thrive on challenges, enjoy learning and get excited about new technologies and their potential. We're experimental in our approach, often evaluating new solutions while also leveraging the skill sets within our team to determine the best paths forward. We like to move quickly, but it's not about the chase! The stability and flexibility of our products is our highest priority.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and curious Grant Writer to help identify, assess and pursue non-dilutive capital opportunities that align with our growth plans, particularly government grants and innovation-focused programs in Canada.

This role is ideal for someone who is both a strong writer and a systems thinker, comfortable translating our creative and technical projects into compelling narratives for evaluators. You'll work closely with our leadership team to gather inputs, craft proposals and ensure timely reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify relevant grant and funding opportunities across federal, provincial and international ecosystems.
  • Own the proposal writing process from draft to submission.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and the team leads to gather inputs, data and KPIs for inclusion in proposals.
  • Maintain an internal calendar and pipeline of upcoming deadlines, reporting requirements and submission schedules.
  • Prepare supporting materials such as business plans, pitch decks or interim reports as required by funders.
  • Help set up a lightweight internal system to track grant activity, reporting deadlines and optimization level.
What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience writing successful grant proposals (experience in tech, media or music sectors a major plus).
  • A strong writing portfolio that includes grants or funding proposals (ideally for innovation, research or creative production).
  • Ability to understand and translate technical or creative ideas into compelling written narratives.
  • Excellent attention to detail, project management and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Canadian grant programs (IRAP, CMD, CanExport, etc.); international experience is a bonus.
  • You know how to ask the right questions and aren't afraid to dive into a messy Notion doc or budget spreadsheet.
