Job summary

Bartlett, a respected player in agricultural, energy and industrial products, seeks a Grain Elevator Team Leader in Northgate, SK. You will train and support hourly staff, uphold safety and sanitation, and help steer daily operations to meet goals.

Strong English, prior grain-handling experience and supervisory aptitude are essential for success in this role. The position offers first shift hours (8:00am-5:00pm) with overtime during harvest, competitive hourly compensation, and benefits

Qualifications

Must be able to read, write, understand and follow written/verbal instructions in English.
Minimum 1 year experience in grain handling facility or similar.
Professional demeanor focused on safety, quality and communication.

Responsibilities

Provide training, support and assistance to hourly team members.
Maintain a safe and sanitary workplace in compliance with policies and regulations.
Supervise and manage personnel and operational activities.
Manage operations to meet pre-set objectives and quality standards.
Record data on weights, quantities and equipment performance; monitor conveyors and equipment.

The Basics

Location: Northgate, SK

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Days/Hours: This job will be 1st shift, 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri with overtime as needed. During harvest you can expect a lot of OT, including weekends.

Equipment Used: Various grain handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs

Material Handled: Bulk commodities: wheat, canola, oats

What You’ll Be Doing

The Grain Elevaor Team Leader is responsible for providing training, support and assistance to hourly team members. You will have a key role in maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace in compliance with Company policies and applicable regulations.

Specific Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

Commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and procedures.
Loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, drying, storage, aeration and fumigation of grain.
Effectively assist with the supervision and management of personnel and operational activities.
Assist with managing the business to plan according to pre-set objectives.
Be familiar with all operations, systems, policies and procedures including, but not limited to:

Weighing or measuring materials and products and using scales or other measuring instruments in order to verify specified tonnages
Manipulating controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows
Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime
Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and work stations, using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants
Observing conveyor operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges, in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions.

Assist with preventative maintenance protocols and elevator operations.
Effectively communicate tasks, directives and policies with both senior management and supervised team members.

Requirements To Be Successful In This Position

High school diploma or GED
1 year plus experience working in grain handling facility or similar
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ag Mechanics, Ag Business or similar is preferred
For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
Available to work overtime and weekends
Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
Able to pass a criminal background check
