About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is hiring graduate practical nurses completing their studies within the next 12 months. We offer challenging and rewarding opportunities in the nursing field.

The Graduate Practical Nurse will:
  • Provide nursing care independently according to established care plans
  • Apply nursing knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Utilize evidence-based practice and contribute to team efficiency
  • Maintain and enhance competencies through ongoing professional development
  • Assess patient needs and provide appropriate interventions within scope of practice
  • Ensure practice and conduct meet the standards of the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
About You

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have graduated from an accredited practical nursing program within the last 12 months or will do so soon, and are eligible for licensing with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
  • Possess effective communication skills
  • Can work effectively in high-stress environments
  • Hold a current BLS Certificate (First Aid and CPR at Healthcare Provider level)

Please ensure your resume is current, including all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications. Include details of your clinical placements to assist in matching you with suitable units.

Efforts will be made to assign you to your preferred nursing areas, depending on availability and application timing.

Hours

Various permanent, temporary, and casual shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Graduate Practical Nurse (NSGEU) - $22.89/hr
  • Graduate Practical Nurse (NSNU) - $24.20/hr
  • Licensed Practical Nurse - starting at $31.74/hr upon proof of active license
