About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is hiring graduate nurses completing their studies within the next 12 months. We aim to foster the next generation of nursing professionals, providing challenging and rewarding opportunities in the nursing field.

The Graduate Nurse Will:

  • Utilize nursing process, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to provide holistic care across the lifespan
  • Coordinate and direct nursing care, developing, implementing, and evaluating care plans to achieve patient outcomes
  • Apply evidence-based nursing practice with sound judgment, contributing to unit efficiency
  • Maintain and enhance competencies through ongoing professional development, including education, research, and quality activities
  • Practice according to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards, and organizational policies
  • Ensure registration is current and valid, practicing responsibly and ethically

About You

We are interested in candidates who:

  • Have graduated from an accredited nursing program within the last 12 months or will do so soon, and are eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
  • Possess effective communication skills
  • Can work effectively in high-stress environments
  • Hold a current BLS Certificate (active First Aid and CPR at Healthcare Provider level)

Additional Details

We will try to assign Graduate Nurses to their preferred areas, subject to availability and organizational capacity.

Hours and Compensation

  • Permanent full-time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include evenings, weekends, and holidays

Compensation includes:

  • Graduate Nurse: $35.06/hour
  • Registered Nurse: Starting at $40.55/hour with proof of active licensure
  • Shift, weekend, and other premiums
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Participation in the Provincial Pension Plan
  • Premiums for completing a Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Various shift options, ongoing education, and career advancement opportunities
