Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field with fluid mechanics.
• EIT with EGBC or PEO, or eligibility to join either.

Responsibilities

• Design smoke control and ventilation systems for tunnels and transit stations.
• Analyze design performance using spreadsheets and simulations.
• Evaluate designs against codes and standards.
• Draft technical reports, fire safety strategies, and compliance reports.
• Prepare testing, commissioning, inspection, and maintenance plans.
• Inspect and test smoke control and tunnel ventilation systems.
• Conduct site visits and document conditions, draft assessments.
• Participate in project and client meetings and contribute to plans.
• Leverage digital tools and innovation; engage with Early Career Professionals Network.

As a participant in Blueprint, our new graduate program, you will embark on a structured three-year development journey designed in collaboration with an award-winning learning provider. The program combines immersive learning experiences with required development sessions to build the professional, commercial, and personal effectiveness skills graduates need to thrive and lead in our business.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Designing smoke control, ventilation and egress systems which support safe, healthy environments in tunnels and transit stations
• Analysing design performance through spreadsheet calculations and engineering simulations
• Evaluating designs against applicable codes and standards
• Drafting technical reports, fire safety strategies, code compliance reports,
• Drafting testing and commissioning plans, inspection and maintenance plans, equipment specifications and engineering diagrams
• Inspecting and testing of smoke control systems and tunnel ventilation systems
• Site visits and documenting site conditions, drafting site condition assessments
• Participating in project and client meetings
• Contributing to project plans
• Leveraging digital tools and innovation
• Building connections through our Early Career Professionals Network

To be considered for this opportunity, our minimum requirements are:

• Master's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or another engineering discipline with a significant fluid mechanics component
• EIT with EGBC or PEO, or eligibility to join either
• Demonstrated interest in consulting engineering and infrastructure development
• Creative thinking skills, with a methodical and pragmatic approach to problem solving
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Resilient, solution-oriented mindset, with a focus on continuous growth and delivering value
• Ability to build and maintain relationships and rapport with internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborative spirit and commitment to teamwork

The following will be considered valuable assets:

• Experience with pedestrian modeling calculations and software
• Good knowledge of NFPA 130 and NFPA 502 standards
• Experience with 1D flow simulation software, such as SES, VentSIM, IDA Tunnel
• Experience with 3D flow simulation software, such as Ansys Fluent, Ansys CFX, OpenFOAM, FDS.

This position is located in Vancouver, BC. You must be able to reliably commute to our office in this location, per our hybrid working policy.

The expected salary range for this position is from $78,500 - $87,500.
