Graduate Electrical Design Engineer - (Building Services / MEP)

Location: Nr Southampton, Hampshire

Salary: £26k to £32k, depending on experience, + benefits

This specialist building services design consultancy is looking for a graduate electrical design engineer to join their friendly, experienced team of engineers. They design electrical and mechanical systems for buildings across various technical environments. Projects have included military manufacturing plants, data centres, marine engineering departments, engine design suites, and large, complex plant rooms.

It is important to note that low carbon design is at the core of everything they do. They are a modern, creative consultancy where engineers' contributions are recognized, and individuals are valued. You will receive personalized training and mentoring, working alongside experienced engineers, and will be involved in different projects to develop your knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

1. Working closely with senior engineers, undertake electrical design work including surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects, with calculations on cable sizing, lighting selections, etc.
2. Attend project meetings with clients, design team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
3. Carry out site surveys to gather relevant information for scheme design.
4. Develop detailed scheme designs.
5. Write specifications for works.
6. Seize opportunities to learn and develop engineering skills.
7. Focus on low carbon design.

Experience Required

• Building Services Degree, Electrical Design Degree, or other related higher educational qualification (HNC/HND).
• Knowledge or experience of electrical design within building services is beneficial but not essential.
• Experience in maintaining and building good working relationships.
• Hold a full UK driving license.
