Job description

Senior School (Grades 9–12) – Talent Pool (PT/ FT)
Senior Division – InnovOak School

InnovOak School is a rapidly growing, innovative private school focused on providing strong academic rigor alongside structured, forward-thinking teaching practices. We pride ourselves on creating a focused, calm, and ambitious learning environment where students develop the tools, skills, and mindset to succeed academically and thrive in life.

As a Ministry-Inspected Private School for Grades JK–12, InnovOak grants both the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and our own Honors School Graduation Diploma (ISHGD). We deliver a unique and purposeful academic program that blends Ontario expectations with our Everstone+ Curriculum, incorporating Singapore Math, Cambridge content, and LifeREADY skills to ensure long-term student success.

Position Overview

We are actively building a Senior School Talent Pool to support school growth and staffing needs across the 2024–2025 academic year. This is not a posting for a single position, but rather a pre-screened roster of candidates eligible for:

  • Casual Daily Supply (CDS)
  • Part-Time Teaching Assignments
  • Long-Term Occasional (LTO) Roles
  • New Course or Section Launches

This opportunity is suited to experienced teachers, new graduates, retired educators, or professionals seeking a structured, skill-focused teaching environment that values content delivery, student mentoring, and calm classrooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction aligned with InnovOak’s Everstone+ curriculum using explicit, well-structured, and subject-specific teaching practices.
  • Create a professional classroom environment that emphasizes structure, engagement, and high expectations.
  • Support student success through clear lessons, individualized feedback, mentoring, and skill development.
  • Develop strong academic habits in students through direct teaching, conferencing, and 1:1 coaching.
  • Plan, document, and assess using best practices aligned with the Ontario curriculum and school frameworks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the life of the school through planning, supervision, and events as required.
  • Provide a calm and supportive presence in the classroom while holding students accountable to learning and behaviour expectations.
  • Where applicable, incorporate external partnerships, co-op experiences, and career readiness content into course delivery.
  • Complete all administrative teaching responsibilities including lesson plans, attendance, assessment records, and provincial reporting.

What We Are Looking For

  • A relationship-focused educator who is passionate about their subject area and committed to academic excellence.
  • A structured and professional classroom leader who values clear routines, respectful learning environments, and consistent expectations.
  • A confident communicator who can provide direct instruction, guide student inquiry, and maintain high engagement in small-group settings.
  • A flexible and collaborative team member open to feedback, mentorship, and continual improvement.
  • A teacher who is comfortable balancing traditional skill-building with opportunities for subject-specific creativity and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field is required.
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and OCT certification preferred.
  • Senior School teachers should hold at least one Grade 9–12 subject teachable.
  • Candidates not yet certified should have 1–2 years of instructional experience in an educational setting.
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Experience teaching in Ontario private or public schools (or through teacher placements) is strongly preferred.
  • Must be available to teach in person at our Kitchener-Waterloo campus.

Additional Information

  • This is a roster application to pre-screen candidates for opportunities that may arise over the coming academic year.
  • CDS and LTO roles require availability for a full teaching day (8:00 AM – 3:45 PM).
  • Priority will be given to applicants with professional presentation, local contact information, and relevant experience.
  • Success in this role may lead to offers of ongoing supply, contract, or permanent teaching positions based on student and parent feedback.
  • All applicants must provide a current resume and will be asked to submit references and a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to assignment.
