Grade 6 / 7 MYP Sciences and Math Teacher - FTE

Crescent Heights Academy is an independent day school located in Surrey, BC. With 630 students from K-12 in 2024, our population will grow to 700 students in the following years. Job Description - Full Time IB Middle Years Programme : Math and Science. Commences September 2025.

Crescent Heights Academy is seeking a teacher to support the Middle School programme through instruction in Math and Science. This is a 1.0 FTE position that includes homeroom responsibilities. There is flexibility in scheduling, and as the school expands, additional opportunities will become available.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programming using the MYP framework.
  • Design and facilitate engaging, inspiring, and challenging learning experiences.
  • Create a caring classroom environment with positive relationships.
  • Monitor, guide, assess, and provide feedback on student learning using various tools and strategies.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Participate in school functions, events, and professional development.
  • Supervise students during recess and lunch breaks.
  • Lead after-school co-curricular activities and coach sports teams.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Head of School and outlined in the Staff Handbook.
  • Contribute positively to the Crescent Heights Academy community.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Education.
  • Valid BC teaching certificate.
  • IB (MYP) training is an asset.
  • Experience teaching in intermediate elementary / middle school, preferably in an IB setting.
  • Experience coaching elementary sports is an asset.
  • Passion for inquiry-based, concept-driven instruction.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Proactive problem-solver.
