The Parkside Montessori Program is dedicated to providing an educational program rooted in the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. It is child-directed, individualized, hands-on learning within a Montessori prepared environment. The intellectual and social development of the child is met through a process of exploration and social development of the natural curiosity and love of learning. The Parkside Montessori program integrates the Alberta Education Curriculum outcomes with the philosophy of Dr. Montessori creating a rich learning environment.

Candidates Must

  • Have the ability or willingness to learn to integrate the Montessori philosophy and the Alberta curriculum
  • Have Montessori training or be willing to take training through the North American Montessori Centre
  • Be flexible and able to balance a multi-aged classroom
  • Possess elementary teaching experience
  • Be willing to embrace the hands on philosophy and be a facilitator of student learning
  • Be proficient in ongoing daily observations and record keeping of student progress
  • Be comfortable with individualized instruction, multi-aged groupings, and experienced in differentiation for student learning
  • Have the ability to work in a team-teaching environment

Qualifications

  • A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • A clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Montessori training
