Varsity Tutors is seeking Grade 12 Physics tutors who can teach online with a strong mastery of dynamics, energy, and quantum concepts. You will tailor explanations to individual students, leverage our AI Copilot for session support, and work from home on a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Grade 12 physics topics including dynamics, energy, momentum, fields, radiation, quantum concepts.
• Ability to explain field theory, induction, and wave-particle concepts with clarity.
• Familiar with Ontario SPH4U or equivalent curricula and university entrance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring, adapting explanations to student needs.
• Conduct on-demand tutoring sessions as requests come in.
• Invoice for tutoring sessions and manage preferred scheduling with students.

What We Look For In a Grade 12 Physics Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of dynamics with advanced applications, energy and momentum, gravitational and electric fields, magnetic fields, electromagnetic radiation, and introductory quantum and nuclear physics. Ability to explain field theory, electromagnetic induction, photoelectric effect, and wave-particle duality while preparing students for university physics and engineering entrance requirements.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at breaking down field strength calculations, electromagnetic induction problems, and quantum physics concepts. Guides students through analyzing gravitational and electric fields, applying Lenz law, solving problems involving magnetic forces on charged particles, and interpreting quantum phenomena. Emphasizes mathematical rigor and conceptual depth, connecting advanced physics to modern technology including nuclear energy, medical imaging, and telecommunications.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with grade twelve physics curricula including Ontario SPH4U and equivalent courses, and common challenges such as field concept abstraction, electromagnetic induction applications, and understanding quantum mechanical principles. Adapts instruction using visual field representations, worked examples, and university-style practice problems to support students preparing for university physics, engineering, and science programs.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
