What We Look For in a Grade 11 Physics Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of kinematics in one and two dimensions, dynamics, energy transformations, mechanical waves, sound, and electricity. Ability to explain projectile motion, Newton laws, work-energy theorem, wave characteristics, and Ohm law while preparing students for grade twelve physics and university-level science and engineering programs.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at breaking down vector-based kinematics problems, force analysis, and energy conservation applications. Guides students through solving projectile motion problems, constructing free-body diagrams, calculating work and power, analyzing wave properties, and solving circuit problems. Emphasizes connecting mathematical formulas to physical phenomena and applies physics to automotive safety, musical instruments, and electrical systems.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with grade eleven physics curricula including Ontario SPH3U and equivalent courses, and common challenges such as vector component analysis, distinguishing mass from weight, and applying energy conservation systematically. Adapts instruction using demonstrations, problem-solving frameworks, and real-world applications to support students at university and college preparation levels building physics foundations.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
