GRADE 1 AND GRADE 3 CONGREGATIONAL SCHOOL TEACHERS (PART-TIME)

POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Beth Tzedec Congregation is a vibrant multi-generational kehillah providing members with a place for prayer, spiritual guidance and growth, observance of life-cycle events, lifelong learning, social and cultural programs and opportunities for tikkun olam, improving the world. The Congregational School at Beth Tzedec Congregation is the part-time Jewish education program for children seeking formal Jewish learning and experiences.

The Congregational School is seeking a teacher for our Grade 1 class—and possibly a teacher for our Grade 3 class (based on enrollment)— for the 2025-2026 school year, commencing on September 7, 2025 and concluding on May 10, 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

This teacher will be providing Judaic and Hebrew instruction to a class of approximately 12 students on Sunday mornings. The teacher will design and implement meaningful learning opportunities connected to Shabbat and Holidays, Torah stories, blessings and prayers, and mitzvot. A curriculum document will be provided for guidance.

The teacher will also implement an oral Hebrew language curriculum and liaise with the UJA Shinshinim (Israeli Young Emissaries) to provide Israel content.

HOURS OF WORK :

Teaching time is Sunday mornings from 9 : 30 AM to 12 : 00 PM. Class preparation is a requirement but can be done on the teacher’s own time as per their individual schedule.

SALARY :

Ranging from $50-$65 per teaching hour, commensurate with experience. We offer strong administrative assistance and ongoing professional development and support.
