Toyota Canada Inc. currently has an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is organized and has excellent communication to assist our External Affairs team. This is a 12 Month contract opportunity and will report to the Manager, Government Relations. The selected candidate will aid in the implementation of government relations activities and strategies, including government relations communications activities.

What You’ll be Doing:
Assists in the planning, maintenance and implementation of Toyota Canada Government Relations program, including developing and maintaining communications output and strategy.
Supports the delivering of all departmental activities while adhering to assigned departmental budget
Helps in the preparation of GR activity reports for management meetings, and for ongoing reporting.
Supports the implementation Toyota Canada GR programs within external affairs group.
Develops departmental SOPs to ensure clear awareness and adherence to procedures and process to fully maximize resources and product results
Internal and Stakeholder Communications
Assists in GR related needs within External Affairs team and across Toyota Canada
Communicates clearly and effectively with TMC, Toyota NA affiliates and related Toyota Canada departments to relay Government proposals (through monthly reports, for example)
Provides answers in a timely and effective manner to external issues
Guides cross affiliate communications and projects
Government Affairs and Communications
Helps to maintain contact with Canadian federal and provincial Government members, associations and other stakeholders to support Toyota Canada policies and interests
Assists with the planning and development of communications strategies and output for key government relations stakeholders, including identifying opportunities and drafting output.
Promotes Toyota Canada sustainable mobility – technology, environmental leadership, and sustainability within government
Attends government/industry/association consultation/meetings as required
Assists Manager in handling reputational government issues impacting Toyota Canada
Supports positive Toyota messaging and image creation activity and prevent damaging TCI public activity
Administration and Outreach
Assists in maintaining lobby registration database to ensure compliance
Supports the development and upkeep of GR related materials to advance key messages, contact management systems, and activity and action item tracking
Supports External Affairs team
Other administrative duties as required
Supports TCI’s participation in relevant events
Other duties requested or required
What You’ll Bring:
University Degree or College Diploma in a related field preferred
Experience with auto industry, trade policy, environmental policy, or political or government experience
Knowledge of federal or provincial government structure, functions and political organization
Prior communications experience
Experienced in French language skills would be an asset
Willingness for occasional travel including some weekends
Excellent oral and written communication skills
