We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Governance Specialist to join our team. The Governance Specialist plays a key role in supporting the Governance Office by contributing to the effective delivery of Gore Mutual’s enterprise-wide Governance Program. This position supports the delivery of the Policy Governance Program; Fair Treatment of Consumers Program; and Conduct and Ethics Program.

What will you do?
Policy Governance Program delivery and Project Management
  • Governance research and bench marking including board and corporate level governing mandates, frameworks, and policies
  • Developing and maintaining a centralized and current repository of internal governing documents and templates
  • Policy communication and education sessions with business
  • Liaison with business for policy inquiries and support
  • Governance mailbox monitoring and maintenance
  • Intranet site – internal governing documents – maintenance
  • Governing office reporting support
  • Project management and special projects support
Fair Treatment of Consumers Program delivery support
  • Intake and initial acknowledgement response
  • Initial inquiry and investigation with business
  • Recording and monitoring in Onspring
  • Response support and tracking
  • Better Business Bureau investigation and response support
  • Ombudsman mailbox monitoring and maintenance
Conduct & Ethics Program delivery support - Whistleblower
  • Intake and initial acknowledgement response support
  • Initial inquiry and investigation with business support
  • Recording and monitoring in Convercent and Onspring
  • Response support and tracking
Governance Office Delivery and Response Support
  • Extra-provincial registrations
  • Chief Agent filings
  • Primary regulator continuous disclosure filings
  • Filing management in Onspring
  • Governing regulatory filings
  • Initial response to Governing regulator inquiries
  • Corporate Governance mailbox support
  • Inquiry intake and response support
Records Management
  • Onspring maintenance
What will you need?
  • 5 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: Governance; Project Management; Corporate Secretarial or Legal; Compliance, Audit or Risk Management
  • Diploma from a recognized community college in Governance, Project Management, Corporate Law, or Corporate Secretarial studies (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks and policy management
  • Familiarity with federal and provincial regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, with preference for property and casualty
  • Experience with compliance management technology platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Skilled in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
