Job summary

The Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations is seeking a Governance Coordinator to support the Alder Academy Board of Directors. This remote-friendly position requires commitment to board administration tasks, including scheduling meetings and minute-taking, with a compensation of $28 to $30 per hour. Ideal candidates will have governance board experience and proficiency with Google Suite.

Qualifications

  • Prior service on governance based Board is an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of scheduling, agenda creation and minute taking.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Forms).

  • Creation and timely distribution of agenda for Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
  • Accurate recording and distribution of minutes for Board meetings.

Governance Coordinator

Alder Academy Board of Directors

10 hour commitment per month

$28.00 – 30.00 / hr

Work remote with capacity to attend in-person meetings as required. Board Meetings are in-person every 2 months.

Accountability

Selected by the Board of Directors, this role reports directly to the Board and focuses solely on the responsibilities outlined in the position description. It does not include authority over staff or matters beyond those specified duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scheduling Board meetings (routine & ad hoc)
  • Creation and timely distribution of agenda for Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
  • Accurate recording and distribution of minutes for Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
  • Creation and maintenance of an up-to-date board planning calendar outlining matters to be on the Board’s agenda over the year
  • Maintenance of a full contact list of board members including board member appointment dates, terms and biographies
  • Maintenance of an up-to-date list of members of the Association (i.e. parent member distribution list)
  • Gather information from Executive Director as required
  • Liaise with contractors on behalf of the Board (e.g. legal)
  • Other administrative duties as assigned by Board
