Job Summary:

We are looking for a Millwright apprentice or Journeyman to join the Maintenance team at Grouse Mountain! The Millwright team is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of our lifts and other machinery on the mountain. We are looking for someone who loves the outdoors, a challenging work environment, and is not afraid of heights.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Machinery and equipment installation, preventative maintenance, service, repair, and overhaul.
  • Installing and adjusting machinery and equipment, fabricating parts as needed, rigging, leveling and aligning, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
  • Maintain all lifts and related equipment in accordance with CSA Z-98 code and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Assist staff with emergency situations.
  • Report and rectify any unsafe situations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Registered Millwright Apprentice or Journeyman Millwright required.
  • Red Seal Millwrights from the ski industry or with related experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems, industrial and stationary engines, pumps, belts, chains, gears, clutches, couplings, and compressors are all assets.
  • Welding and fabrication experience are assets.
  • Good working knowledge of current WCB regulations.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles, ATVs, and 4x4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to work shift work, including weekends.
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, mature, dependable, and able to work well with others in a team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be comfortable working at extreme heights.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be flexible regarding work hours (Occasional graveyard shifts, early mornings, late nights, weekends).
  • Ability to make on-the-spot decisions or assessments regarding the safe operation of the equipment we are responsible for.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

Journeyperson: $39.20 /hour up to $44.53 /hour plus shift premium of an additional $4 per hour for qualifying shifts.

Apprentice: $24.56 /hour up to $36.38 /hour plus shift premium of an additional $4 per hour for qualifying shifts.
